A required belief is the false idea that Economics is a science, which it certainly is not.<\/p><style>.wp-block-gutenbee-paragraph.block-1387a2-dd07-44 { font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.2; }<\/style>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ac889a-50fa-4c\" class=\"wp-block-gutenbee-paragraph block-ac889a-50fa-4c\">But then the orthodox doctrine is a system of belief, and individuals can be rather emotional about a belief system they hold dear. One such is the notion that &#8216;free trade&#8217; will benefit all parties participating. <\/p><style>.wp-block-gutenbee-paragraph.block-ac889a-50fa-4c { font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.2; }<\/style>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4ec1c8-ef0f-4e\" class=\"wp-block-gutenbee-paragraph block-4ec1c8-ef0f-4e\">&#8220;In 1993 at Boston University, I took part in a panel discussion about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA); ..I expected that the economists would be most insistent about the virtues of free trade, ..but<em> I was <strong>truly startled<\/strong> by their emotional vehemence<\/em>.
